The Honorable Philip Espinosa: A Deep Dive into Arizona Criminal Appeals

Please join PCLP for a conversation with Hon. Philip Espinosa, a judge at the Arizona Court of Appeals. Before joining the bench, Judge Espinosa served as the Deputy Chief of the Tucson Criminal Division at the U.S. Attorney’s Office. He handled high-level trials and argued numerous cases before the Ninth Circuit. Judge Espinosa was appointed to the Arizona Court of Appeals, Division 2 in 1993. During his 30 years on the bench, he issued opinions on numerous criminal cases and was elected Chief Judge. He has also served as an ad hoc justice on the Arizona Supreme Court on many occasions, continuing to promote the rule of law in Arizona. Judge Espinosa will discuss the procedure of criminal appeals and judicial independence.
